Compress Photo for Visa Application
Visa portals differ a lot. Some accept a photo up to 1 MB, others ask for 20 to 50 KB, and many require JPG only. Uploads are often rejected for size without a clear message, which wastes time before a deadline. This page starts at 200 KB in JPG, and you can pick any other target in one click.
Settings this page uses
- Output: JPG.
- Target size: 200 KB, adjustable.
- Max width: 1,600 pixels.
- Transparent areas become white.
You can change any setting above the results.
Checklist before you upload
- Read the portal instructions for the file type, minimum pixel size and maximum file size, and set the target to match.
- Compress photo and passport scan as separate files. They often have different limits.
- Do not rename a PNG to .jpg. Let the tool convert it.
- Make sure text in a scanned page is still readable at 100% zoom.
If something goes wrong
If a scan becomes hard to read, raise the target. If the photo still does not upload, check pixel dimensions and file type before blaming the size.
