Compress Image for Email
Most mail providers limit a message to about 20 to 25 MB, and attachments grow by roughly a third when they are encoded for sending. Ten phone photos of 4 MB can already be too much. The preset here is JPG, quality 75, 1,600 pixels on the long side: plenty for viewing on a screen and about 300 to 500 KB per photo.
Settings this page uses
- Output: JPG.
- Quality: 75.
- Max size: 1,600 pixels on either side.
You can change any setting above the results.
Checklist before you upload
- Count the total: 20 photos at 400 KB are about 8 MB, which is fine.
- For printing, send the original or a link to a shared folder instead.
- Use the ZIP download to attach many images as one file.
- Tell the receiver if the images are reduced and not suited for printing.
If something goes wrong
If the mail still bounces, lower the Max width to 1,200, or set a target such as 300 KB. If the recipient needs full quality, use a file sharing link instead of an attachment.
