What the image rotator does
The tool turns a picture clockwise or counterclockwise in steps of 90 degrees, by any angle you type, or flips it horizontally or vertically. You see the result at once, and every image gets its own buttons, so one batch can contain pictures that need different turns.
How to rotate an image
- Drop one or more images on the box, paste them, or choose files.
- Use Rotate left, Rotate right, Rotate 180 or the flip buttons for all images, or the small buttons on a card for one image.
- Choose the format and quality.
- Download one image, or Download all as a ZIP file.
Rotate by any angle
To straighten a tilted horizon or a crooked scan, type an angle or drag the slider. Positive angles turn clockwise. Choose whether the canvas grows to hold the whole picture or keeps its size, and whether the empty corners are transparent (PNG and WebP) or filled with a colour. JPG always needs a colour.
Rotate many images at once
Add up to 50 pictures. The turn buttons at the top change all of them, and each card has its own buttons. Download all puts the results in one ZIP file, built in your browser.
Why a photo looks sideways
Cameras and phones store a small orientation tag inside the photo instead of turning the pixels. Some programs follow the tag and others ignore it, so the same file can look upright in one place and sideways in another. This tool shows the picture the way your browser shows it, and saves the result with the turn built into the pixels, so it looks the same everywhere. Metadata such as the orientation tag and the camera data is not copied to the new file.
Quality
A turn of exactly 90, 180 or 270 degrees only moves pixels, so nothing is blurred. Other angles need the picture to be resampled, which softens it slightly. JPG and WebP are saved again after the turn, so a quality of 90 to 95 keeps them looking the same. PNG is lossless.
Privacy
The pictures are rotated in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
