Crop a PNG and keep the transparency
PNG is lossless and can have transparent areas. This cropper saves your result as a PNG by default, so the kept pixels and their transparency are exactly as they were. Logos, icons, screenshots and cut-out pictures all work.
Trim transparent edges
Logos and cut-outs often come with a wide empty margin. Select Trim transparent edges and the crop box snaps to the smallest rectangle that contains every visible pixel. Then save, or adjust the box and add a little padding by hand.
Why PNG files are large
PNG stores every pixel without losing detail, so photos are much bigger as PNG than as JPG or WebP. For photos choose JPG or WebP in Save as. For screenshots, text and graphics with flat colour, PNG is usually the better choice.
Crop a screenshot
Paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard on the upload box, crop it, and download the PNG. This is quicker than opening an editor for a quick trim.
