Working Days Calculator

Count the days you work between two dates. Tick your own work week, set the hours per day, add holidays, and see the days and hours for each month.

Days you work

Your own work week

Tick the days you work. The default is Monday to Friday. A six-day week, a Sunday to Thursday week or a part-time pattern only needs different ticks. Every other day counts as a day off.

Working days and working hours

Enter the number of hours in a working day. The tool multiplies it by the working days to give the total hours, which is useful for estimating work in days or hours, checking a timesheet or planning a project. The result also shows the working weeks, based on the number of days you work per week.

Month by month

The table lists the working days and hours for each month in the period. It helps with monthly planning, payroll and checking that a period adds up.

Holidays and leave

Add the dates to skip in the Holidays box, one per line, in the form YYYY-MM-DD. Add paid leave, public holidays or company days off. A holiday on a day you do not work is not counted twice, and the tool reports how many holidays fell on working days.

Working days and business days

The two terms are often used for the same thing. A business day usually means a day on which a business or a bank is open, and a working day means a day that you work. In practice the difference is your calendar: use this page when you have your own work week, and the business days calculator when you also want to add business days to a date.

Uses

  • How many working days are left in a project or a month.
  • The length of a notice period or a probation period in working days.
  • Planning work in person-days.
  • Checking how many days to pay for in a period.
