What is 16:9?
16:9 means the picture is 16 units wide for every 9 units high, a decimal ratio of 1.78:1. It is the standard shape of HD and 4K video, television, YouTube and most computer monitors and laptop screens. Turned on its side, it is 9:16, the shape of vertical phone video.
How to calculate a 16:9 size
height = width x 9 / 16
width = height x 16 / 9
A width of 1000 gives a height of 562.5, which is not a whole number. Choose a width that divides by 16, such as 960, 1280 or 1920, and the height is a whole number. Type either side above and the other updates.
