Crop WebP

Crop WebP images in your browser and save them as WebP, or switch to JPG or PNG when you need a format that every program opens.

Drop an image here, paste it, or click to chooseJPG, PNG, WebP and other image files. Nothing is uploaded.

Crop a WebP image

Open a WebP file, drag the box over the part you want and save. The output format is WebP, which gives smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar quality. Lossy WebP uses the quality slider, and a maximum file size in KB can be set for upload limits.

Animated WebP

This tool crops still images. If you open an animated WebP, only the first frame is used. Use a video or GIF editor to crop an animation.

Save as JPG or PNG instead

Some older programs, forms and email clients still reject WebP. Choose JPG or PNG in Save as to crop and convert in one step. Your browser must support saving WebP; if it does not, the tool saves a PNG and tells you the format it used.

When to use WebP

WebP is supported by all current browsers and is a good default for pictures on a website. For a comparison of file size, quality and support, read the JPG vs WebP guide.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop a WebP image?

Open the file, drag the crop box and select Crop image. The result is saved as WebP unless you choose another format.

Can I crop a WebP and save it as JPG?

Yes. Choose JPG in Save as. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour.

Does it crop animated WebP?

Only the first frame is used. The tool is made for still images.

Why did I get a PNG instead of a WebP?

A few browsers cannot encode WebP. The tool then saves PNG, and shows which format it used.
