Options

Drop PNG images here or paste with Ctrl+V

Up to 30 images. PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and JPG. Nothing is uploaded.

JPEG and JPG are the same format

JPEG is the name of the format. The extension is .jpg on files from older Windows versions, which allowed only three letters, and .jpeg on most others. They hold the same kind of image, and every program that opens one opens the other. This converter saves the file as .jpg. If a form asks for .jpeg, rename the file after downloading. Nothing else needs to change.

How to convert PNG to JPEG

  1. Drop the .png files on the box or choose them from your device.
  2. They are converted at full size as soon as they are added.
  3. Download each JPEG, or all of them in one ZIP. A file called logo.png becomes logo.jpg.

Quality settings in plain words

The exact savings depend on the picture. Photos shrink the most, flat graphics the least.

Why a form may say your file is the wrong type

Some portals check the file extension and reject .png even when they would accept the image. Converting to JPG solves it. If the form also has a size limit, use convert PNG to JPG and set a target size in KB.

Frequently asked questions

Is PNG to JPEG the same as PNG to JPG?

Yes. JPEG and JPG are two spellings of the same format, so the result is identical.

Does the JPEG keep the original file name?

Yes. Only the extension changes, so photo.png becomes photo.jpg.

Can I get the .jpeg extension?

The download uses .jpg. Rename the file to .jpeg if a form needs it, the image inside is the same.

Will the JPEG be smaller than the PNG?

For photos, almost always, often by a large factor. For flat graphics and screenshots the gain is smaller.
