Resize Product Photos for Ecommerce
Shoppers judge a product by its photos, and stores like consistent images. Marketplaces usually want a minimum size so that zoom works: for example, Amazon asks for at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side, and recommends larger. A set of photos with the same size and a white background looks tidy in a grid. The default here is Fit with padding, which keeps the whole product visible and fills the rest with white.
Sizes at a glance
| Size | Pixels | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Square | 1,000 x 1,000 | Minimum for zoom on several marketplaces |
| Square | 1,600 x 1,600 | Good for eBay and general use |
| Square | 2,000 x 2,000 | High detail, recommended by several platforms |
| Square | 2,048 x 2,048 | Shopify recommendation for product images |
| 4:3 | 2,000 x 1,500 | Used by some marketplaces for listing photos |
How to use this page

Tips
- Read the current image rules of each marketplace: minimum pixels, background colour and file size change.
- Use the same size for every photo in a collection so that the grid is even.
- Photos should fill most of the frame. If your product looks small, crop in first and then resize.
- To keep files light, compress afterwards: compress product images.
