Convert text to Morse code
Type or paste your text and the Morse code is made as you type. Each letter becomes a group of dots and dashes, letters are separated by a space and words by a slash. Each line of your text is converted on its own line.
Options
- Symbols: use the plain dot and hyphen (. -) that most Morse tables show, or the typographic dot and minus (· −), or the bullet and dash (• —). These look better in designs and are easy to tell apart.
- Word separator: a slash with spaces ( / ), three spaces, or a vertical bar. A slash is the most common and the least likely to be misread.
- Speed: from 5 to 40 words per minute. Beginners listen at 10 to 15.
- Tone: the pitch of the beeps, from 300 to 1000 Hz.
Examples
| Text | Morse code |
|---|---|
| SOS | ... --- ... |
| HELLO | .... . .-.. .-.. --- |
| I LOVE YOU | .. / .-.. --- ...- . / -.-- --- ..- |
| 2026 | ..--- ----- ..--- -.... |
Skipped characters
Morse code has no signal for characters such as # or emoji. They are left out, and a note under the result tells you which ones.
Sound and download
The Play button speaks the result in beeps using the standard timing, where a dash is three times as long as a dot. Download WAV saves it as a sound file. Very long text is limited to about five minutes of audio.
To go the other way, use Morse to text, or use the two box Morse code translator. See the Morse code guide for the full chart and history.
